Fertility treatment and medication guidance
Fertility treatment can involve different medicines, timings and prescription routes. This page explains where medication fits into the process, what Fertility2U can help with and when your fertility clinic remains the right point of contact.
Our role is focused on the pharmacy and delivery side of prescribed fertility medication. We do not make clinical treatment decisions, but we can help you understand the practical steps from prescription receipt through to medication delivery.
How medication supports fertility treatment
Fertility treatment may involve one or more prescribed medicines at different stages, depending on the treatment plan set by your clinic. The medicines, dose, timing and duration can vary, so the instructions from your treating team should always be followed.
Your fertility clinic is responsible for deciding which medication you need, how and when it should be used, and any changes to your treatment plan. Fertility2U supports the pharmacy process by validating prescriptions, dispensing medication and coordinating delivery.
Who to contact and when
Contact your fertility clinic for questions about your treatment plan, medication choice, dose, timing, side effects or changes to your clinical instructions.
Contact Fertility2U for questions about prescription requirements, whether your order has been received or processed, payment where applicable, delivery arrangements, storage information supplied with your medication, or a pharmacy-related query.
From prescription to medication delivery
The exact route depends on whether your treatment is NHS-funded, private in the UK or managed through an EU clinic. The steps below describe the pharmacy pathway rather than the clinical treatment itself:
When treatment plans change
Fertility treatment can change at short notice. If your clinic changes your medication plan or you have an urgent medication requirement, contact both your clinic and Fertility2U as soon as possible. We can help with the pharmacy and delivery elements, while clinical decisions remain with your treating team.
Prescription received
Your clinic or referring team submits the prescription through the route that applies to your treatment.
Prescription reviewed
Our pharmacy team checks the prescription against the relevant legal and pharmacy requirements before dispensing.
Costs and payment confirmed where applicable
For private UK and some EU clinic routes, we confirm the cost of the prescribed medication and guide you through payment before supply. NHS-funded treatment follows the agreed NHS pathway.
Medication prepared
Once the prescription requirements are complete, the medication is dispensed and checked by the pharmacy team.
Delivery arranged
We arrange delivery under the appropriate conditions and provide the relevant dispatch and tracking information.
Contact us if something changes
If your clinic changes your prescription or you need medication at short notice, contact Fertility2U as soon as possible so we can explain the pharmacy and delivery options available. Any change to your treatment instructions must come from your fertility clinic.
