Fertility medication FAQs

These FAQs explain how prescriptions, payment and delivery work across NHS-funded, private UK and EU clinic treatment routes, as well as what to expect once your medication is ready for dispatch.

FAQs: prescriptions and treatment routes

Your NHS fertility service or referring clinical team usually sends the prescription to Fertility2U through the agreed route. Our pharmacy team validates the prescription, prepares the medication and contacts you with the relevant delivery information. Payment arrangements are handled through the NHS pathway rather than as a private order.

Your private clinic sends the prescription to Fertility2U securely. Once the prescription has been validated, we provide a quote, guide you through payment and arrange medication supply and delivery.

Prescriptions from EU clinics are reviewed against the legal and pharmacy requirements that apply before dispensing in the UK. If additional information is needed, we will explain what is required before the order can progress. Once the prescription can be processed, we confirm the cost, payment steps and delivery arrangements.

No. Your fertility clinic is responsible for your treatment plan, including the medicine prescribed, dose, timing and any changes. Fertility2U can help with prescription requirements, order status, pharmacy-related queries and delivery arrangements.

FAQs: prescription medication supply

Fertility medicines may be prescribed at different stages of treatment, depending on the plan set by your clinic. Your treating team remains responsible for the medicine selected, dose, timing and any clinical changes. Fertility2U manages the pharmacy elements within scope, including prescription processing, dispensing and delivery coordination.

The process depends on how your treatment is funded and where your clinic is based. NHS prescriptions are usually sent by the referring fertility service or clinical team. For private UK treatment, your clinic sends the prescription securely and we guide you through quotation, payment and delivery. Prescriptions from EU clinics are reviewed against the legal and pharmacy requirements that apply before dispensing in the UK.

Every prescription must meet the relevant legal and pharmacy requirements before dispensing. If information is missing or clarification is needed, our team will explain what is required and, where appropriate, work with your clinic so the prescription can progress.

For private UK and applicable EU clinic routes, medication costs are confirmed after the prescription has been reviewed. NHS-funded prescriptions follow the relevant NHS arrangements.

Once your medication has been prepared and checked, delivery is arranged under the appropriate conditions. We provide the relevant dispatch and tracking information so you know what to expect.

Contact Fertility2U as soon as possible so we can explain the pharmacy and delivery options available. Any change to your treatment instructions, medication, dose or timing must come from your fertility clinic.

FAQs: shipping and delivery

Delivery timing depends on prescription approval, stock availability, when your medication is ready for dispatch and the destination. Most UK deliveries are scheduled for the next working day once dispatched, but your delivery information will confirm what to expect for your order.

Where this delivery process applies, we send a one-time link by SMS and email before dispatch so you can check the delivery details and make permitted changes to the date or address.

Where your order is eligible for self-service changes, you can update the delivery date or address before dispatch using the one-time link sent by email and SMS. If you cannot make the change through the link, contact our support team.

If a delivery cannot be completed, the next step depends on the courier and the medication involved. Where medication is returned to the pharmacy, our team will review the order and contact you about redelivery. If you have missed a delivery and have not received an update, contact our support team.

Most deliveries are handled by LF&E Transport, a specialist medical courier. Alternative couriers may be used where required by the delivery area or service. We will provide the relevant delivery information for your order.

Yes. A signature is required when your medication is delivered to help make sure it reaches the correct person and is handled appropriately on arrival.

Storage requirements depend on the medicine supplied. Follow the storage instructions provided with your medication and on the packaging. If the order uses colour-coded bags, follow the instructions associated with those bags.

If your medication requires refrigeration, move it into the appropriate storage as soon as possible after delivery and follow the instructions supplied with the medication. If you are unsure, contact our pharmacy team.

Fertility2U provides home delivery across the UK, including the Isle of Wight. The courier and delivery arrangements may vary by location and by the medication being supplied, and we will provide the relevant updates for your order.
