Buserelin 5.5mg/5.5ml solution for injection vial
Buserelin Acetate is one of the most common medicines used for the treatment of infertility. Buserelin, also known as Buserelin Acetate, belongs to a group named gonadotropin medicine used for releasing hormone analogues. It works by preventing the natural production of the hormones involved in ovulation. Synthetic hormones are then given to stimulate ovulation artificially.
Buserelin Injection can only be prescribed by a medical practitioner. Before taking Buserelin Injection, make sure your doctor or pharmacist is aware of the following:
If you are pregnant, trying for a baby or breast feeding
If you have high blood pressure
If you are undergoing post menstrual stage
If you suffer from depression
If you are or have experienced vaginal bleeding, that is not associated with your menstrual cycle
If you have a tumour
This particular medicine is only recommended for use in adults. Moreover, some physicians also perform various types of tests prior to recommending this medicine.
While using this medication you may experience the following side effects:
Weight fluctuations
Change in emotional state
Headaches, muscle pains, stiffness
Feeling of nausea, drowsiness, dizziness, disturbances in sleep
Menopausal symptoms such as dryness of the vagina, hot flushes, tenderness of the breasts, decreased interest in sexual intercourse.
Vaginal discharge or vaginal bleeding
Palpitations
The injection may cause pain or redness of the area injected. Very rarely, hypersensitivity reactions may occur, with reddening of the skin, rashes, itching or difficulty breathing. Should this occur seek urgent medical help as soon as possible. After starting this treatment, you may experience painful sexual intercourse along with loss of sex drive.
Buserelin Injection medicine needs to be kept in a safe, secure place completely out of sight and reach of children. Ensure not to use Buserelin Injection after the expiry date stated on the packaging and label. The expiry date of the medication will always be the last day of the given month. Use within 15 days of opening the medicine.
In order to protect the Buserelin Injection from sunlight, keep the vials in the outer carton.
Do not store above 25 °C. Do not freeze. Please note, any discoloured or cloudy solution should be avoided and not used.
